Bluffton, IN – The Wells County Republican Party held a caucus tonight, Monday, January 5, 2026, to fill a vacancy on the Jefferson Township Advisory Board. Following the caucus process, Debra Cushman was selected to serve on the board.
The vacancy was created by the resignation of Tim Baker, effective December 19, 2025. Four candidates filed declarations of candidacy and were considered during the caucus, which was conducted in accordance with Indiana law and party rules.
Wells County Republican Party Chairman Preston T. Wright thanked each candidate who stepped forward and participated in the process.
“Serving on a township advisory board is an important responsibility, and we were fortunate to have four well-qualified individuals willing to step up,” Wright said. “I appreciate each candidate’s interest in serving, and I am confident that Debra will provide steady and thoughtful leadership for Jefferson Township.”
Debra Cushman will assume the duties of Township Advisory Board member immediately and in time for the board’s first meeting of the year tomorrow evening.
