Deadline to Submit Mail-In Absentee Voting Applications

Mail-in absentee ballot applications must be submitted by April 23, 2026 at 11:59PM.

To submit an absentee ballot application, click here and then click “Visit My Voter Portal”. From there, you will put in your information as it appears on your voter registration. After that, click on “Absentee Voting”, then “Vote By Mail”. Fill out the form completely and submit it.

Caucus for Jefferson Township Advisory Board

The Wells County Republican Party has announced plans to conduct a caucus to fill a vacancy on the Jefferson Township Advisory Board. The vacancy was created following the resignation of Tim Baker, effective December 19, 2025.

The caucus is scheduled for Monday, January 5, 2026, at 6:30 PM. It will be held at the Wells County Republican Headquarters, located at 125 S Johnson St in Bluffton.

Candidates interested in being considered for the position must meet the following qualifications:

  • Be a “Qualified Primary Republican” as defined by Indiana Republican State Committee Rule 1-24, meaning a voter who cast a Republican Party ballot at the two most recent primary elections in Indiana in which the voter voted, and who is a Republican in good standing

  • Reside within Jefferson Township, Wells County

  • Meet all requirements to hold the office of Township Advisory Board as outlined in the Indiana Code

Interested candidates are required to file a Declaration of Candidacy, Form CEB-5, with Caucus Chairman Preston T. Wright no later than 72 hours prior to the caucus. Completed forms should be submitted by email to caucus@wells.gop. The CEB-5 form may be accessed online through the Indiana Secretary of State’s website at https://www.in.gov/sos/elections/election-administrators-portal/election-forms/.

The Wells County Republican Party encourages qualified individuals prepared to serve to participate in this process and help ensure a smooth and stable future for the township.

The Wells County Republican Party will hold a caucus to fill the vacancy for the office of Wells County Coroner. The caucus will take place on Monday, December 1, 2025, at 7:00 PM at the Wells County Republican Headquarters, 125 S Johnson St, Bluffton, IN.

Candidates interested in being considered for the position must meet the following qualifications:

  • Be a “Qualified Primary Republican” as defined by Indiana Republican State Committee Rule 1-24, meaning a voter who cast a Republican Party ballot at the two most recent primary elections in Indiana in which the voter voted, and who is a Republican in Good-Standing

  • Reside within Wells County

  • Meet all requirements to hold the office of coroner as outlined in the Indiana Code

To be eligible for consideration, candidates must file a Declaration of Candidacy (Form CEB-5) with the Caucus Chairman, Preston T. Wright, no later than 72 hours prior to the caucus. Until a new coroner is selected, the office will continue to operate under the leadership of Chief Deputy Coroner Hilarie Gaskill, ensuring uninterrupted service to the community.

Caucus for Ossian Town Clerk-Treasurer and Jefferson Township Advisory Board

The Wells County Republican Party will hold two caucuses on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, to fill vacancies in the offices of Ossian Town Clerk-Treasurer and Jefferson Township Advisory Board.

The first caucus will take place at 7:00 PM to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Carolyn Bertsch, effective September 5, 2025. The second caucus will immediately follow at 7:05 PM or upon the conclusion of the first caucus, whichever is later, to fill a vacancy on the Jefferson Township Advisory Board. This vacancy follows the resignation of AJ Springer, effective August 31, 2025, after he was selected at a prior caucus to serve as Jefferson Township Trustee.

Both caucuses will be held at the Jefferson Township Trustee’s Office, 1645 Hillcrest Dr, Ossian, IN 46777.

Candidates interested in being considered for either position must meet the following qualifications:

  • Be a “Qualified Primary Republican” as defined by Indiana Republican State Committee Rule 1-24, meaning a voter who cast a Republican Party ballot at the two most recent primary elections in Indiana in which the voter voted, and who is a Republican in Good-Standing

  • Reside within the applicable district: Town of Ossian for the Clerk-Treasurer position or Jefferson Township for the Advisory Board position

  • Meet all requirements to hold the respective office as outlined in the Indiana Code

To be eligible for consideration, candidates must file a Declaration of Candidacy (Form CEB-5) with the Caucus Chairman, Preston T. Wright, no later than 72 hours prior to the caucus.
