Wells County Republican Party Announces Resignation of Ossian Clerk-Treasurer Carolyn Bertsch

Bluffton, IN – Wells County Republican Party Chairman Preston Wright announced today that Ossian Clerk-Treasurer Carolyn Bertsch has submitted her resignation, effective September 5, 2025.

Bertsch has a long record of public service, having served two terms as Wells County Recorder before serving as the Ossian Clerk-Treasurer.

“We are grateful to Carolyn for her many years of dedicated service to Wells County and the Town of Ossian,” said Chairman Wright. “Her commitment to the community and her work on behalf of Wells County residents have been appreciated. Statutorily, in the absence of a chief deputy, the Town Council will need to step in and ensure the Clerk-Treasurer’s responsibilities are carried out until a new officeholder is appointed. It is important that this transition is managed smoothly, and I have full confidence that the council will work to make certain the office continues to serve residents effectively throughout this process.”

Details regarding a caucus to fill the upcoming vacancy will be announced at a later date.
