Wells County Republican Party Elects New Leadership

Bluffton, IN – The Wells County Republican Party held its reorganization caucus on March 1, electing new leadership to advance conservative principles and strengthen the party’s presence in the community. Preston T. Wright was elected Chairman, joined by Vice Chairwoman Cari Whicker, Secretary Laura Roberts, and Treasurer Scott Mentzer.

Chairman Wright reaffirmed the party’s commitment to the values that have long defined Wells County. “Wells County has a proud history of principled, conservative leadership, and I am committed to continuing that legacy,” Wright said. “Our party stands for the values that have made America great—individual liberty, limited government, fiscal responsibility, and the preservation of our God-given rights. These are not just talking points; they are the foundation of our way of life and must be protected.”

Vice Chairwoman Cari Whicker, a dedicated educator and respected conservative leader, will play a key role in strengthening the party’s grassroots efforts. She brings years of experience in public service and Republican politics, making her an asset to the leadership team.

Secretary Laura Roberts and Treasurer Scott Mentzer both bring valuable leadership experience to the executive team as well as their service as elected officials. Roberts serves as Wells County Assessor, while Mentzer serves as Bluffton City Council President and is also a business owner. Their combined expertise in local governance, public service, and business will be instrumental in advancing the party’s mission.

Wright also emphasized the importance of getting more people involved in the party, particularly those interested in politics who may not have previously engaged in party activities. “Our success depends on the strength and dedication of grassroots conservatives,” Wright said. “With the right team in place and a clear vision for the future, we are ready to take the Wells County Republican Party to new heights.”

In addition to electing new leadership, Wright reaffirmed the party’s commitment to community engagement through the Tusk Force, a volunteer team representing the Wells County Republican Party at events across the county. “The Tusk Force is more than just a group of volunteers—it’s the face of our party in the community,” Wright explained. “Through service and outreach, we are building connections, sharing conservative values, and supporting the people of Wells County.”

Looking ahead, Wright pledged to continue growing the party’s influence and ensuring Republican victories at all levels. “The voters in Wells County and across the country made their voices heard loud and clear last November when they re-elected President Donald Trump,” he said. “We have a mandate to restore conservative leadership at every level, and I am ready to get to work.”

“Together, we will keep Wells County a beacon of conservative values in Indiana,” Wright added. “I’m very excited about what we will accomplish together.”
