Wells County Republican Party Announces Scott Mentzer Selected to Serve as Bluffton Mayor
Bluffton, IN – The Wells County Republican Party is pleased to announce that Scott Mentzer has been selected to fill the vacancy in the Office of Mayor for the City of Bluffton.
Mentzer was the only candidate to file a Declaration of Candidacy to seek the position. Pursuant to Indiana Code 3-13-11-10(c), Wells County Republican Chairman Preston T. Wright officially selected Mentzer to serve as Bluffton’s next Mayor. He will assume office on August 1, 2025, following the resignation of Mayor John Whicker.
"I want to congratulate Scott Mentzer on his selection to serve as Bluffton's next Mayor," said Chairman Wright. "Scott has provided strong, steady leadership as President of the Bluffton City Council for the past five and a half years. He has been the driving force behind much of the growth and progress we’ve seen in our community. As a successful businessman, Scott brings executive experience that will serve him well in the mayor’s office. I look forward to his continued leadership guided by conservative principles, and I have every confidence that he will take Bluffton to levels we have never seen before."
Mentzer’s selection to the mayoral office creates a vacancy on the Bluffton City Council for District 4. Chairman Wright anticipates announcing a caucus on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, to fill the vacancy. Further details will be provided at that time.
