Statement from Wells County Republican Chairman Preston T. Wright on the Resignation of Bluffton Mayor John Whicker

Bluffton, IN – Mayor John Whicker has informed me of his decision to resign as Mayor of Bluffton, effective July 31, 2025. On behalf of the Wells County Republican Party, I want to thank him for his many years of dedicated service to our city.

John served as a Bluffton City Councilman from 2016 to 2020 and has led Bluffton as Mayor since 2020. During his time in office, he guided our community through the challenges of the pandemic and helped lead several major infrastructure projects that will benefit Bluffton for years to come.

We are grateful for his leadership and commitment to the people of Bluffton. As he enters retirement and focuses on recovering from knee replacement and hip surgery, we wish Mayor Whicker and his family all the best.

An announcement regarding a caucus to fill the vacancy will be made soon.
